My aunt, Carrie Drazin over at It’s Droolworthy, organized a blogger brunch in South Jersey over the weekend. We all met up at Toast in Asbury Park for some delicious eats and then spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the town.
I had some yummy chocolate chip pancakes at Toast. Their menu had an array of great dishes, including red velvet pancakes, which Like Lillian had. My cousin, Jordanna Drazin of Magnificent Temptations, had the nutella french toast. I was pretty envious of her meal! It was great meeting a few other fellow bloggers, including the fabulous Ali Caulfield of A Yoga Mama Muses, to discuss our passion projects.
After brunch, we explored some different shops in town. I decided to feature Confections of a Rock Star, a bakery on Cookman Avenue. This unique spot is a perfect blend of sugary sweetness and rock and roll. The shop has candy pink walls adorned with guitars, graffiti, and rock paraphernalia. Yes, the baked goods are as scrumptious as they look.
These caramel pretzel and chocolate peanut butter cup cupcakes immediately caught my eye. I was pretty stuffed after brunch and couldn’t imagine eating even another bite, but we went ahead and got a few delicious chocolate chip cookies for the road. Confections of a Rock Star’s chocolate chip cookies are an original family recipe, going all the way back to the ’70s. They should continue to keep their closely guarded secret because that cookie was an absolute knock-out.
My mom was our photographer for the day, but I still managed to get her in front of the camera for one photo. We both had no idea Asbury Park was such a hip little town. I think it would be great to go back again in the summer to really take advantage of both the cool scene and nearby beaches.
Of course, I cannot conclude this post without mentioning my latest purchase. I was beyond excited to wear my new Mansur Gavriel bag. We are madly in love and are contemplating eloping together. Imagine how gorgeous that wedding album would be!
